ABCA Disciplinary
Actions
The American Border Collie Association has expelled
Richard Swafford of Portland, Tennessee (Swafford's Border Collies, All
Around Border Collies).
Richard Swafford has
been expelled from ABCA membership for submitting false registration documents
to the ABCA and for executing and delivering false registration applications
to buyers of his dogs. It was determined through an ABCA investigation that
Richard Swafford's breeding practices and kennel conditions were not conducive
to accurate registration. Effective June 9, 2004, Mr. Swafford's registration
and certification privileges with the ABCA were revoked. This
means that no dog Richard Swafford sells, and no pup produced by a sire
or dam he owns, is eligible for registration with the American Border Collie
Association. Because the evidence showed systematic misrepresentation
by Mr. Swafford of the identity and parentage of the dogs he sold, any
dog which passes through his kennel must be regarded as suspect.
The American Border Collie Association has expelled Mary Ann Harrison
of Virginia and North Carolina (Wildrose Border Collies, Cherokee Rose Border
Collies, American Beauty Border Collies).
Mary Ann Harrison (Wildrose Border Collies, Cherokee Rose Border Collies,
American Beauty Border Collies) has been expelled from ABCA membership for
failing to cooperate in an investigation of her breeding practices. Effective
July 11, 2006, Ms. Harrison's registration and certification privileges
with the ABCA are revoked. This means that no dog
she sells, and no pup produced by a sire or dam she owns, is eligible for
registration with the American Border Collie Association.
The
American Border Collie Association has expelled Kristen Campbell of Bristol,
Tennessee (Black Hill Farms Border Collies/Catch 'Em Border Collies).
Kristen Campbell has
been expelled from ABCA membership for making false statements and submitting
false registration documents to the ABCA, and forging the signature of another
on a registration application. Effective May 10, 2005, Ms. Campbell's registration
and certification privileges are revoked. This
means that no dog she sells, and no pup produced by a sire or dam she owns,
is eligible for registration with the American Border Collie Association.
The
American Border Collie Association has expelled Steve & Cindy McCoy
of Kentucky (Solid Rock Border Collies, Kentucky Farm Collies). Steve & Cindy
McCoy (Solid Rock Border Collies, Kentucky Farm Collies) have been expelled
from ABCA membership for failing to cooperate in an investigation of their
breeding practices. Effective August 1, 2006, Mr. & Mrs. McCoy's registration
and certification privileges with the ABCA are revoked. This
means that no dog they sell, and no pup produced by a sire or dam they
own, is eligible for registration with the American Border Collie Association.
The
American Border Collie Association has barred Bill & Gloria Barnes of Braxton, Mississippi (Barnes Border Collies).
Bill & Gloria Barnes have been permanently barred from ABCA membership for submitting false registration documents to the ABCA misrepresenting the parentage of pups they sought to register. These breeders admitted that they bought puppies from unregistered parents and then misrepresented to potential buyers and to the ABCA that those purchased pups were the offspring of their own ABC-registered dogs. DNA testing of their dogs showed numerous instances of misreported parentage. Effective May 19, 2015, Mr. & Mrs. Barnes's registration and certification privileges are revoked. This
means that no dog they sell, and no pup produced by a sire or dam they
own, is eligible for registration with the American Border Collie Association.
